Introduction
This meter is equipped with an easy-to-read, 9-digit LCD display that measures consumption, rate of flow, reverse-flow indication. It has no moving parts. So, it can show more accurate results and also improves reliability. It reduces measurement errors due to sand, air pockets, suspended particles, and pressure fluctuations. The battery and other electronics are encapsulated so that it can be protected when submerged or from the outer environment. The meter can be installed vertically or horizontally with the water flow in the up direction. When the pipe is empty the meter cannot show the flow rate. U500w Ultrasonic meters meet and exceed AWWA C715 and the most recent revision of AWWA C750 Standards. It complies with the lead-free provisions of the safe drinking water act and NSF/ANSI standards 61 and 372U500w Ultrasonic meters also conform to UL 327B and FM 1044 for fire service applications. Flanges meet AWWA Class D standards. When water flows into the measuring tube, ultrasonic signals are sent consecutively in forwarding and reverse directions of flow. Measuring the time difference between the forward and reverse directions determines the velocity. Total volume is calculated from the measured flow velocity using water temperature and pipe diameter. The total volume, unit of measure, rate of flow, firmware, and alarm conditions (reverse-flow, no usage, empty pipe, exceeding max flow, suspected leak, temperature, end of life, and measurement error) are shown in the LCD. The LCD also shows pressure alarms and pressure and temperature data.
